Kick the Flu 2011!
Community Immunization Summit

The Seventh Annual Kick The Flu Community Summit was held on Friday, Sept. 16 and was, just like its six predecessors, a rousing success. More than 160 healthcare professionals and others filled the auditorium at the Sharp Spectrum Center in Kearny Mesa to attend presentations about the nuts and bolts of the upcoming flu season, promoting flu vaccine to persons at high risk for flu-related complications and personal belief exemptions to flu immunization.

Three television stations sent camera crews to report on the event. They interviewed County Health Officer Wilma J. Wooten, MD, MPH and physician Robert Peters, MD, about the importance of the Kick The Flu Summit in helping local health professionals prepare for the challenges of the upcoming influenza season.

The Kick The Flu Community Summit is presented every year by the San Diego County Immunization Coalition (SDIC). This group consists of approximately 150 partner organizations working together to identify and develop strategies to raise immunization coverage for all residents of San Diego County.
