Adolescent Vaccinations
SDIC’s January 23rd meeting focused on adolescent vaccinations in preparation for Preteen Vaccine Week, Feb 10-16. In lieu of a formal presentation, Dr Sawyer walked us through CDC’s current recommendations and then we brainstormed tips to overcome common barriers to vaccinating adolescents. Dr. Sawyer also gave an update on influenza.
Hepatitis B Free San Diego Project
The October 24th general members meeting focused on Hep B. Linda Bethel explained the San Diego County’s perinatal hepatitis B prevention project, and Dr. Binh N. Tran from the Asian Pacific Health Foundation presented the Hep B Free San Diego Project.

The Eighth Annual Kick The Flu Community Summit was held on Friday, Sept. 21st and was, just like all of its predecessors, a rousing success. More than 110 healthcare professionals and others filled the auditorium at the Sharp Spectrum Center in Kearny Mesa to attend presentations about the epidemiology of influenza, the nuts and bolts of the upcoming flu season and raising rates of influenza immunization among health care workers as well as in the general population.
