LIMITED USE OF SDIR DURING COVID-19

SDIR GUIDANCE FOR STUDENTS' COVID-19 VACCINE STATUS:

Schools
may not use SDIR for student admission as it relates to COVID vaccination.

There is no current authority for schools to access the COVID-19 vaccination status of its students for the specific purpose of documenting COVID-19 immunization status for authorizing attendance, even if the school or school district has implemented a local requirement mandating the COVID-19 vaccine for school attendance.

SDIR may be accessed for the purpose of administering vaccines in running vaccine clinics at the schools.

SDIR GUIDANCE FOR SCHOOL STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS' VACCINE STATUS:

Schools cannot access SDIR to check the COVID-19 vaccination status of their staff.

The recent public health order encouraging school staff to get vaccinated against COVID-19 does not change this. CDPH would urge you to consult with your Counsel and to review HSC 120440, in particular subdivision (d).

Individuals can obtain their vaccination records by providing:
An immunization history report from their medical provider
Their physical CDC COVID immunization card (COVID-19 only)
Their Digital Vaccine Record, which can be requested at https://myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov (COVID-19 Only)
