Call for abstracts!

The 2026 Kick the Flu+2 Summit will spotlight innovative strategies to prevent the spread of respiratory viruses and promote vaccinations against flu, COVID-19, and RSV in clinical and community settings.

We invite oral and poster presentations that highlight effective approaches, programs, and lessons learned to reduce respiratory viruses and increase vaccination rates. Abstracts will be reviewed, scored, and selected by four key members of the SDIC Steering Committee. Successful abstracts will be chosen to present either as a poster presentation or as a 15-20 minute oral presentation.


We look forward to highlighting your work and learning from your successes as we prepare for the 2026–2027 respiratory virus season. For questions, please email izinfo.hhsa@sdcounty.ca.gov. To submit your abstract please complete the submission form button below.

Submission Details

Topics may include:

  • Strategies for addressing vaccine hesitancy and misinformation

  • Building vaccine confidence

  • Strategies to promote vaccine schedule

  • Communication strategies

  • Health education, promotion, outreach

  • Addressing low vaccination rates in certain community groups

  • Incorporating community input in vaccination activities

  • Approaches to building trust in clinics

  • Research on improving vaccination rates

  • Newly established or innovative methods to increasing vaccinations rates in your clinic

Important Dates:

  • Abstract submission closes: June 26, 2026 11:59 PM PST

  • Abstract acceptance notifications sent: By July 14, 2026

 

Submission Instructions:

Abstracts should be no more than 600 words and include:

  • Title

  • Objectives (3)

  • Background

  • Methods/Approach (including target population)

  • Outcomes/Results

  • Conclusion/Takeaways

Join us for the San Diego Immunization Coalition’s 21st Annual Kick the Flu +2 Summit!

This summit brings together clinicians, health professionals, educators, and public health advocates to explore the latest Flu, COVID-19, and RSV vaccine recommendations, review current data trends, and share effective strategies to strengthen immunization efforts across San Diego communities.
