IMMUNIZATION MESSAGING
These are examples of statements you can make to your family members, friends, co-workers, and patients.
"The ACIP does NOT recommend Flumist (the nasal spray) for this flu season."
In June 2016, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices voted down the use of live attenuated influenza vaccine, also known as the "nasal spray," because it was found to have no protective benefit. Click here for more information.
"Pregnant women should get a flu vaccine at any time during a pregnancy, and then a Tdap vaccination at the start of the third trimester."
The CDC highly recommends that women get Tdap (to protect against whooping cough) between 27-36 weeks of pregnancy. Other vaccines, like the flu shot, can be given before or during pregnancy. Click here for more information.
